A recent judgment from the Court of Appeal (Re M (A Child: Intermediaries) [2025] EWCA Civ 440) regarding intermediary assessments in Family proceedings has stated: “If the court then approves an intermediary assessment, the cognitive report should be supplied to the assessor.” (Paragraph 26).
Expert reports, particularly resources such as cognitive reports and psychological reports, can be of great assistance to intermediary assessors in all cases, whether the intermediary is assessing an individual involved in Family or Criminal proceedings, or another jurisdiction such as Immigration or Employment Tribunals.
Sharing expert reports with a Communicourt intermediary is straightforward and there are two ways to do so, depending on when the report in question becomes available.

1. If the report is available before you make an intermediary referral
Please share the expert report via our referrals portal, when you make a referral for the intermediary assessment. You can learn more about the referrals process here.
When making the referral:
- Click the “Previous Reports” button, this will open a new box
- Click “Add an item” to upload the report.
- Once you have uploaded your reports, click the “Add” button.
- You can upload multiple reports at the same time, if required.

2. If the report becomes available after the intermediary referral has been made
Please email admin@communicourt.co.uk as soon as the report becomes available.
In your email, please include:
- The report
- The case number
- Your client’s full name.
